Break ups, lets admit… BIG TIME! You feel that constant sting and heavy stomach.
For whatever reason you and your partner broke up there can still be feelings of bitterness and resentment.
However despite the heart pain there are a few things we should avoid in this time of vulnerability. Here are the 10 no-no’s.
Pretend you’re fine
Cry. Punch a pillow. Surround yourself with friends who listen. Whatever, it takes to get over the initial shock and sorrow.
Don’t let pride get the better of you, instead be honest with your emotions. It is normal to feel anger and humiliation but being true to your emotions allows for growth.
Try to be “just friends”
It is rare that great friendships emerge from breakups. One has to also be able to deal with your ex finding dating a new person.
Also don’t let your ex-partner push you to be friends when you know you cannot.
Don’t try to text or call your ex.
You maybe tempted to communicate with your ex… perhaps you have a shared pet, still have their belongings. One must desist from trying to communicate the way you used to.
Form your support system of friends so they can distract you.
Beg for reconciliation
Don’t compromised yourself because the feelings after are way to grave than a lustful action.
Facebook-stalk your ex
It will only make you feel paranoid. Either de-friend them or turn off notifications.
Get a haircut — or tattoo
Don’t make irrational decisions.
Take some time to refocus and pursue the things you’ve always loved to do.
Reflect on what the relationship taught you and move forward.
Avoid meeting someone new
Once you are ready to start dating again… go for it.
