Lionel Richie wants more kids at 67 despite having reservations about it earlier in the year.
He said, “I’m willing to become a father again. I might have just let a secret slip there, but so be it – Lisa and I are cool with the idea of children. Marriage, on the other hand, is a very different issue, it’s a bad idea for men.”
Six months ago the award winning performer said about Rolling Stones Ronnie Wood who was expecting twins at 68, “Of course, Ronnie Wood can have children he’s a Rolling Stone, he can defy the laws of gravity. It would probably kill me. But I really can’t see myself having any more children.” He added, “I have enough. I’ve turned a corner.”
Now there’s a shift in his twice-divorced fatherly goals as the singer who’s dating his girlfriend of four years, Lisa Parigi has had a change of heart.
Richie disclosed to the Mirror he wants kids but not marriage, “I’ve been there twice and it was very expensive for me. I’ve no idea to go there a third time – women have killed it for me. Kids aren’t the problem – ex-wives are. That’s why I won’t marry again, but I’m happy to commit in other ways.”
Dating and having kids without getting married might be a no-no for some women, especially with a man like Lionel Richie, but Lisa isn’t one of them.
The 30-something Swiss-Chinese former model said, “Lionel has been there twice and it was definitely a tough for him.” Referencing Richie’s previous marriages which conceived three grown-up children.
From his first marriage to college sweetheart Brenda Harvey, he has an adopted daughter, Nicole Richie who is a US reality star; and Miles, 21, and Sofia, 17, from his second marriage to Diane Alexander.
“I don’t need a ring to validate my relationship with him. What we already have is enough.” Lisa declared. “So many people need marriage to validate a relationship, but I’m not one of them. Lionel doesn’t owe me anything.”
Lionel Richie, is currently worth an estimated two-hundred-million pounds or over seventy-three-billion naira (£200million ie N73,204,199,140).
He changed his mind about fatherhood, maybe he’d change his mind about marriage.
