It all started with a surprise
I rushed out of the school premises immediately i finished my final exam as joy rushed through my system. At first, I thought of going straight home but on another thought, I decided to share the joy first with my man. For a moment, anger swept through me because he was meant to come and pick me up but I gave him the benefit of a doubt and off, I went to his house.
I got to the house and everything seemed so strange, from the scanty living room, to the unfamiliar deck playing my favorite song. I smiled to myself as I digested the lyrics of the song
“Mama, Mama, I can’t believe what I’m about to do
I think I’ve found a girl I wanna bring home back to you”
I remembered the first time he sang that song for me, I got totally emotional and I reassured myself that nothing was going to take this man from me. I brought myself together and realised that no one came down to meet me ssince my arrival and I quickly rushed up the stairs to wake him from his usual dead sleep. I got close to his door and I heard voices, a voice I could decipher too well to be mistaken, the other, a total stranger. I moved closer and my fears were confirmed as I heard the voice of my man and that of a strange woman, giggling and if not mistaken, making love. I was furious and the beast in me wanted to pick a bottle, open the door and stab the both of them right there but on another thought, every man has a beast waiting to be awakened. With tears in my eyes, I walked slowly down the stairs humming the timely song that came to my head
“Why is everything with you so complicated
Why do u make it hard to love you , Oh I hate it”
I allowed the tears flow down my cheeks as I headed towards the door but just then, I saw Oluwafunso on his knees. I was totally confused as I stood transfixed, different thoughts coming to my head. I concluded it was my tears that didn’t make me notice when he passed by me, but I wasn’t lost in thought, I countered again. I stood akimbo, ready to attack and patiently waiting for his already lined up lines but the words that came out of his mouth were;
“A hundred and five is the number that comes to my head
When I think of all the years I wanna be with you
Wake up every morning with you in my bed That’s precisely what I wanna do”
I was lost there and then when I saw him bring out the ring he had been hiding. I looked up the stairs and saw Oluwafunto with a lady. For a moment, I wanted to beat myself up for forgetting my man is a twin and Funto simply winked at me. Just then, I figured everything could have ben planned afterall. I looked again at the man still on his knees and joined him, kissing him passionately as he slipped the ring into my finger. Just then, every other person trooped in and my success party started.
It ended with another surprise.
